There are some similarities between Mardi Gras, whose origin is in New Orleans, and Halloween and it’s special nights in other cities.

In Detroit, Michigan, the night before Halloween is referred to as Devil’s Night, and for many years involved petty vandalism by children and teens, such as rubbing soap or wax on car windows or throwing eggs at houses.

Halloween in Mexico begins three days of consecutive holidays, as it is followed by All Saints’ Day, which also marks the beginning of the two-day celebration of the Day of the Dead or the Da de los Muertos.

Purple, green and gold costumes in all combinations of velvet, metallic fabrics and quality materials are what you will find when you shop for Mardi Gras costumes. Halloween is now the United States’ second most popular holiday (after Christmas) for decorating; the sale of candy and costumes is also extremely common during the holiday, which is marketed to children and adults alike.
