Valentine’s Day Traditions

Whether Valentine’s Day falls on a school day or the weekend, a great (and delicious!) way to start the day with your smallest Valentines is with a special breakfast Kids feel extra special when they are being served something just for them. Decorate the kitchen table the night before (after they go to bed) with decorative plates, napkins, cups and decorations, and then plan a menu that everyone will love. You can dye the waffle batter pink with food coloring or berry juice and top them with whipped cream and strawberries — or put a Valentine twist on whatever your family’s favorite breakfast may be. Bows, ruffles and hearts galore

The next step is to place the heart stencil on the cardboard square – carefully trim the excess by following the heart’s shape using the pair of scissors (do this for the rest). Use white paper against the cardboard heart cutout and follow the edges with the scissors again. Include multiple cute messages along the paper heart’s circumference. Glue the paper cutouts to the cardboard – you’ll now have 8 white heart cutouts superimposed on the cardboard ones. Lastly for the finishing touches, glue each crayon heart to the center of each cutout – leave it aside to dry.

If reds and pinks just don’t compliment your skin tone then forget the V-Day garb and revert to childhood with our silly accessories that will free you from any romantic woes, past or present. You can impersonate the naked chubby-cheeked cherub with our Cupid Accessory Kit. Don the feathered red wings and take flight to set your sights on a fresh crush. The matching red bow and arrow will enable you to aim and fire away at your new love interest. Who could shut down someone disguised as Cupid- the all-encompassing symbol of romance? Chasing anything is often a relationship no-no).stage makeup,Halloween makeup, stage costumes,Valentines Day costumes

Valentine’s Day Dresses

Valentine’s Day Dresses

There are other dresses that you can wear on Valentines Day and still look glamorous. Pants are not effective for Valentines Day. It is advisable that you go for dresses or skirts as they appear fashionable to wear on this day. However, you should be slow on colors and prints since they suit differently to different body types. Red is the color of love but this does not necessarily mean that you have to wear a red Valentines Day dress. Red color comes with many shades and it would be important that you choose a shade that will compliment your skin tone.

Sure I could have gone to Victoria’s Secret or some other lingeree store and gotten a cute babydoll or other item, but this is so unique and so fun. With a form fitting bodice with hearts and ruffles and a full gown that cuts away to a ruffled miniskirt, you have every right to order off with their heads. I have tried it on and it is super flattering and sexy. The full skirt flowed behind me as I walked down the stairs and truly made me feel like a queen. The crown is a little cheezy, but the rest of the outfit is high quality and suprisingly comfortable.

If you’re flying solo this year but still want to go for a Valentine’s Day theme, test your wings as Cupid. Nothing says Valentine’s Day like the cute, little cherub who shoots unsuspecting people with his magic love arrow. A Cupid costume is all about accents. You can start with a sexy corset in almost any color. Then, pick up a pair of wings, and bow and arrow set to make the costume really look authentic. Another Valentine’s Day costume that is sure to turn heads is a Teddy Bear.stage makeup,Halloween makeup, stage costumes,Valentines Day costumes

Valentine’s Day Costumes, Accessories

Every time Valentine’s Day rolls around, we can’t wait to see what our favorite celebs will wear on their big night out. Will they go for something comfy and cute or sultry and smoldering? Will they be on-theme with a red and white ensemble or will they opt for a killer LBD? Well, friends, our burning questions have finally been answered—last night we peeped Rihanna , Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry out and about, and we are seriously smitten with their V Day ensembles. RiRi headed out to a nightclub in Hollywood wearing a bright orange wrap dress with a black fur coat and metallic gold snakeskin sandals.

Add the color dye but not too much because you want it to be clear enough to see the embeds. The essential oils you use cannot be the kind that is bought from a cosmetic store, but from a place where it is deemed safe for use in candle-making. Add about two tablespoons of the essential oil to the gel mix. To achieve a clear appearance that is free from bubbles, take the pot off the stove and set it in the oven at 150°F for about a minute. The zinc wick should ideally be at least an inch and half above the gel layer.

Don some Valentine jewelry to add a touch of holiday charm to your outfit. If you plan on hosting a Valentine’s party, try dressing up your party with sweet heart decorations! Heart garland, balloons, and themed party foods can take your Valentine’s Day party from mediocre to fabulous! Try heart shaped snacks, decor and accessories to spruce up your Valentine’s event. Costume props like heart necklaces can double as great party favors. When you put it all together you not only have a great Valentine’s Day costume but you have also set the mood for a very romantic evening.stage makeup,Halloween makeup, stage costumes,Valentines Day costumes

For the Newbie Santa….A Few Last Minute Tips…

For the Newbie Santa….A Few Last Minute Tips…

Your suit is ready. Your belt, boot tops, glasses and gloves are lined up, and show time is very soon.

Some children love to sit on Santa’s lap and chatter about how good they’ve been and what they want for Christmas.  Then there are those children, who love Santa from across the room or at a distance, but want nothing to do with him at a close up range.

Don’t take it personally.  It’s not you.  It’s your persona.

And what to do about those little guys who want to tug on your beard to see if it’s real or those looking for clues as to who you really are.  From my experience, I never really let them get an angle on me where they could try to tug a beard, or look for any telltales signs that might provide them with a clue that you are not really Santa.  I sit them on my lap facing a little bit away from me, and a little more towards the audience (family, parents, whatever).  They then have to turn their face a little to the rear to see me, but their body is angled away from me so as to prevent those grabs and deeper glances. If you are a newbie, and concerned about the forthcoming interaction, your questions are probably less about the suit, and more about THE conversation.  And conversing with a 4 year old is always interesting to say the least.

After plopping the child on my lap, I ask the usual questions such as ‘Were you a good little girl or boy?’, and ‘What would you like Santa to bring you?’ and offer a little advice on a few of their shortcomings (as provided by Mom or Dad). I might speak of my home at the North Pole or about Mrs. Santa or the Elves or the reindeer.  My needing to feed my reindeer or needing to see other children was always my exit line.

As to how to field the children’s questions?  Out of the mouths of babes come the least expected questions.  Either answer the question with a simple answer, or dazzle them with your intellect (G).  Basically brother, you’re on your own on this one.

How long should you hold the child?  Sometimes it seems like an eternity, and I’ve never been timed, but I would guess the average child is on my lap for only a couple of minutes.

Lastly, beware the Santa challenged child, though, for they might dampen thy suit.

Hmmm, maybe a backup pair of pants just in case.

We nearly forgot…the Elves

We nearly forgot…..the Elves

We nearly forgot the elf costumes, or elves as they would be in plural.  Elf costumes would probably not be used at a home party because most home parties only feature Santa.  However, if your local church, or union or office is sponsoring a Christmas party, it may come replete with a cast of characters such as Mrs. Santa, Santa Belles, a reindeer or two and a snowman.   Elves (sounds like Elvis, doesn’t it?) might be in abundance as well.

Green and Red Elf Adult Costume

Of all the costumes, the Elf is the easiest and by far the most comfortable.  With a little imagination, you might be able to construct one at home; as all it requires is a pair of tights (well, you might not have tights at home), a tunic, hat, cord, and something to cover the shoes.

OK, maybe this post is a little late for this year, but you might consider this for your various parties next year. Make a note.
